Evansville Otters News Release
July 23, 2008, Crestwood, Ill. - What started as a pitchers duel, turned out to be a loss for Evansville due to a couple missed defensive plays and a lack of hitting as Windy City took the series from the Otters by a final of 5-1. Ross Stout (6-3) threw the complete game for Windy City allowing just one run on six hits, striking out seven. Billy Phillips (0-2) had a no-hitter through the first five innings against his former team broken up in the sixth on a bloop single that helped set up an Amos Ramon two-out, two-run double that was misplayed in centerfield, giving the âBolts the lead they would never surrender.
Evansville would answer in the sixth on an RBI double from Justin Randall that ended an 0-for-23 skid for the rookie, but Stout was just that the rest of the way. Windy City plated three more runs in the bottom of the sixth, two crossing on a single that got past the leftfielder Matt Wille, and Evansville was able to get just two hits the rest of the way.
The Otters will head to Loves Park, IL tonight for a three game set against the Rockford Riverhawks starting tomorrow at 7:05 CDT. Evansville native and Harrison High School graduate Adam Rogers will take the mound for the Otters.
