
Defenseman Fischer Returns for Second Season with Everblades

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades President and General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Greg Poss announced today the team has re-signed defenseman David Fischer.
Fischer, 23, returns for his second season with the Everblades after posting 29 points (3g, 26a) and finishing with a plus-12 rating in 64 appearances last season. Prior to joining the 'Blades, the 6-3, 190-pound blue liner was a four-year starter at the University of Minnesota from 2006-2010. Fischer registered 38 career points (6g, 32a) with the Golden Gophers in 157 games.
"We are happy to have David back with us this season," said Poss. "He was one of our best defenseman last season, and is a big contributor on the power play and penalty kill. From a development standpoint, we look forward to seeing him improve here in his second professional season."
The Apple Valley, Minnesota native was a first-round selection (20th overall) of the Montreal Canadiens in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. While playing for Apple Valley High School, Fischer was awarded with Minnesota's Mr. Hockey award in 2005-06, when he led the team and finished eighth in the state among defenseman in scoring with 39 points, including eight goals.
