Elmira Jackals News Release

The Elmira Jackals announced on Tuesday that they have signed forwards Cam Fergus and John Mori and defensemen Vinny Geonnetti and Clay Goodall to standard player contracts for the 2011-2012 season.

Fergus, a 6-foot, 196-pound rookie center enters his professional career after skating the last four seasons at Saint Mary's University (CIS) in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The Brantford, Ontario native put together an impressive collegiate career, scoring at least 15 goals in each of his four seasons with the Huskies. Fergus led the team in goal scoring twice and was in the top three on Saint Mary's in point scoring all four years. In 2009-2010, Saint Mary's won the University Cup as the CIS champion. After each of the past three seasons, Fergus was awarded the Atlantic University Sport's Don Wells Trophy as the league's most sportsmanlike player.

Prior to his career at Saint Mary's, Fergus skated three seasons in the QMJHL and parts of two seasons in the OHL. In 2006-2007, Fergus was third in the Quebec League with 53 goals with Cape Breton. Fergus also contributed 45 assists to lead the Screaming Eagles with 98 points. He split 2005-2006 with Cape Breton and Gatineau after playing all of 2004-2005 with the Olympiques. Fergus skated 24 games in 2003-2004 with the OHL's Kitchener Rangers and played five games with the Rangers in 2002-2003, a season in which Kitchener won the Memorial Cup.

"Cam has a great shot and is a real good finisher," Bingham said. "He'll be a very dynamic offensive threat for us."

Mori, a third-year center, skated all of 2010-2011 with the CHL's Tulsa Oilers, scoring nine goals and adding 15 assists for 24 points while adding two goals and three assists for five points in the postseason. The 6'1", 181-pound, Westport, Conn. product played 73 games with the IHL's Flint Generals in 2009-2010, leading the team with 37 assists and tying for tops on the team with 64 points while also scoring 27 goals. Mori also skated one game that season with the AHL's Manchester Monarchs.

Prior to turning pro, Mori played at Providence College (NCAA, D-I) from 2005-2009, scoring two goals with seven assists for nine points in his career.

"John is a versatile player who is terrific on the penalty kill," Bingham said. "He can score if given the opportunity and can fill any role as a forward."

Geonnetti, a Philadelphia, Pa. native, skated 11 games with the Jackals last season after starting the season with the AAHL's Battle Creek Revolution. A hard-hitting, 6'1", 192-pound third-year pro,

Geonnetti scored a goal for the Jackals while adding an assist and nine penalty minutes. He was one of four members of the Revolution that skated with the Jackals in 2010-2011.

"Vinny is a big open-ice hitter who throws big body checks," Bingham said. "He plays very hard and is physical every time he is on the ice."

Goodall, a 5'10", 190-pound rookie from Maple Ridge, British Columbia played the last three seasons at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (CCAA), collecting 12 goals and 29 assists for 41 points in his three seasons. In 2007-2008, Goodall played for the AJHL's Grand Prairie Storm and was fifth in the league with 237 penalty minutes while scoring three goals with 11 assists for 14 points. Goodall skated for the Prince George Spruce Kings (BCHL) from 2005-2007, recording 204 penalty minutes over the two seasons while tallying three goals to go along with 14 assists for 17 points.

"Clay brings the same physicality to the ice as Vinny," Bingham said. "We expect him to make people pay a price for going to the front of the net."
