
Defenseman Brett Flemming and Forward Stanislav Galiev Assigned to Reading

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced the defenseman Brett Flemming and forward Stanislav Galiev have been assigned by the Capitals from the Bears to the Royals. In a separate transaction, the Royals also signed Matt Tendler as an emergency back-up goaltender. In separate transactions previously completed, the Royals also: (i) released forward Bryce Williamson from his ECHL contract; (ii) released goaltender Josh Watson as the team's emergency back up goaltender; (iii) activated forward Ethan Cox from the ECHL Reserve List; and (iv) activated defenseman Mike Banwell from the ECHL Reserve List.
For Flemming, a third year pro who was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, this marks the third time this season he has been assigned to Reading. Most recently, he was recalled to Hershey on April 1. Flemming, who was named the Royals' Most Valuable Player during the team's award presentation last week, put up career offensive numbers for Reading this year, scoring six goals and assisting on twelve others (eighteen points) and recording fifty-nine penalty minutes in fifty-two games. In four games with Hershey, Flemming registered one point (0g-1a) and two penalty minutes.
For Galiev, a second year pro who was born in Moscow, Russia, this is his second trip to Reading this season. He started the year with the Royals and was recalled to the Bears on November 26. In sixteen games in Hershey, Galiev registered six points (3g-3a). In fourteen games with the Royals this season, Galiev scored five goals and assisted on eight others (thirteen points).
For Tendler, a first year pro from Warminster, Pennsylvania, who played collegiately at Neumann University, this is his second stint with the Royals. He was signed as the team's EBG on December 7 and served as Reading's back-up goaltender that night in a 7-2 loss to the Fort Wayne Komets at Santander Arena.
Williamson, a first year pro from Seba Beach, Alberta, joined the Royals on April 4 after completing his senior season at Bowling Green State University. In three games with the Royals, Williamson did not record any points or penalty minutes. Watson, a first year pro from Lititz, Pennsylvania, was most recently signed as the team's emergency back-up goaltender on April 7. He did not appear in a game during this stint with the team. Watson did appear in eight ECHL games this season with the Royals, Idaho Steelheads, and Las Vegas Wranglers. Overall, he compiled a game of 2-3-0-2 with a 2.96 goals against average and a .903 save percentage.
The Royals kick off the first round Eastern Conference Quarterfinal best-of-seven series against the Fort Wayne Komets on Thursday, April 17 (@ 7:05 pm) at Santander Arena in Reading, Pennsylvania. The first 2500 fans will receive a rally towel courtesy of CJ's Tire & Automotive Services. The game night broadcast on CBS Sports Radio 1240 am and 98.5 fm in Berks County with the Highmark Blue Shield Pre-Game Warm-Up show beginning at 6:35 pm.
