Connor Knapp Becomes Fifth Road Warrior to Play in NHL

Greenville, SC: Buffalo Sabres goaltender Connor Knapp became the fifth Greenville Road Warriors alumni to play in the NHL. On Saturday, Knapp made his first career appearance in the Sabres 4-1 loss to the Boston Bruins.

Knapp, 23, was the sixth goaltender to play for the Sabres this season after being recalled to Buffalo on Friday to relieve Matt Hackett. The former Road Warriors goaltender stopped 6 of 7 shots faced in his NHL debut. On Saturday, Knapp made 22 saves and earned an assist for his first career point with Buffalo in the Sabres 4-3 shootout loss.

Knapp played 16 games with the Road Warriors this season and posted a 7-7-2 record. He tallied a 2.32 goals against average and a .933 save percentage while in Greenville. The York, New York native is fourth in all-time Road Warriors history with 884 career saves. Knapp was drafted in the sixth round by the Sabres in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

Knapp now becomes the fifth Road Warriors alumni to play in the NHL. He joins fellow goaltenders Cam Talbot and Nathan Lieuwen as well as defensemen Marc-Andre Bourdon and Julien Brouillette. Four of those five have made it to the NHL this season.

The home dates are finalized and the Road Warriors will take on the Kalamazoo Wings at home on Wednesday, April 23th, Friday, April 25th.
