Additionally, players under contracts with American Hockey League teams, on assignment with an ECHL club, had to play at least five games in the AHL this season. Two players per ECHL team could be selected as exemptions from this requirement of five games in the AHL.

Players who were loaned to or left their team to play with a club outside of North America had until February 15th to return to a team in a U.S. or Canadian league to be eligible for the ECHL playoffs. Also, players on the injured reserve list who were named to postseason rosters must finish their minimum of 21 days on the IR before they are allowed to compete in a playoff game.
