Aces Announce 2013-14 Kelly Cup Playoff Roster

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Aces, proud ECHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League, announced the club's roster for the 2013-14 Kelly Cup Playoffs which includes 19 skaters and two goaltenders.

Defensemen Kane Lafranchise and Zach Davies, currently skating in the American Hockey League with the Abbotsford Heat, were placed on the Aces "playoff eligible" list.

GOALTENDERS (2): Gerald Coleman, Olivier Roy

DEFENSEMEN (7): James Martin, John Ramage, Zach McKelvie, Drew McKenzie, Brad Richard, Corey Syvret, Sean Curry

FORWARDS (12): Turner Elson, Brendan Connolly, Evan Trupp, Alex Belzile, Brett Findlay, Tyler Mosienko, Tommy Mele*, Ross Ring-Jarvi*, Andy Taranto, Nick Mazzolini, Jordan Morrison, Peter Sivak

Of the 21 players on the Aces active playoff roster or on reserve, seven are returning from last postseason while three players (Coleman, Roy, Mosienko) have either Kelly Cup championship or Finals experience.

The Aces, who claimed their ECHL record fourth consecutive Brabham Cup for the league's top regular season record, have home ice advantage throughout the Kelly Cup Playoffs and open with Game 1 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals on Friday at 7:15pm (GCI/KFQD), hosting the Las Vegas Wranglers at Sullivan Arena.

ABOUT THE PLAYOFF ROSTER: Playoff Rosters consist of a maximum of 23 Players - a 20-man active roster and a three-man reserve list. Upon submission of its Playoff Roster, each team is required to include a minimum of 19 active, available (i.e. not injured or on recall) Players; and a list of all other Players who meet the Playoff Roster Eligibility requirements, but who are unavailable at the time that Playoff Rosters are due to the League Office due to recall to the AHL or NHL. The Playoff Eligible List may only list Players who are unavailable due to recall. All other players (i.e. injured Players) must be listed on a team's initial Playoff Roster (active roster or reserve list) in order to play in the Kelly Cup Playoffs.

Throughout the Playoffs, but prior to the start of the Conference Finals, as the players listed on a team's Playoff Eligible List become available (due to assignment, release from PTO or their respective AHL teams' seasons having ended), teams are allowed to supplement their initial Playoff Rosters with Players listed on their Playoff Eligible Lists, up to a maximum of 23 Players total. Once a team has named 23 Players to its Playoff Roster, or the Conference Finals have begun (whichever comes first), the team's Playoff Roster shall be fixed for the duration of the Playoffs (barring emergency conditions).
