Edinburg Roadrunners News Release
EDINBURG, Texas---- The Edinburg Roadrunners (8-10) lost 6-2 to the San Angelo Colts (12-6), for their first loss at home this season, Monday night at the Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
Tim Haines (2-1) lost for the first time this season after pitching seven innings and allowing six runs none of which were earned.
The Colts scored in the top of the first inning with some help from the Roadrunners' defense. Two errors on the Roadrunners allowed the inning to keep going and the Colts got an early 3-0 lead.
It took the Roadrunners until the fifth inning to get a run against Colts' starter Chandler Barnard. An error allowed Osiel Flores to reach and then he moved to second base on a ground out. Nick Aranda then singled to center that allowed Flores to score from third for a 3-1 score. With Robert Matlock at the plate, Aranda was picked off at first base. Matlock then singled to right field to keep the inning going. Vincent Blue then doubled to deep center field that allowed Matlock to score from second to make the score 3-2.
The Colts stretched the lead in the top of the sixth inning. Errors by the Roadrunners' defense once again allowed three more runs to come in for a 6-2 San Angelo lead.
Barnard (4-0) picked up the win after allowing no earned runs and striking out five over six and two thirds innings.
The Roadrunners and Colts will play game three of this four-game series Tuesday night at the Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Miguel Martinez (0-1) looks for his first victory of the season with the first pitch scheduled at 7:05 p.m.
