Defending champions open 2010 playoffs vs. San Antonio at home on Thursday

REGULAR SEASON FINALE

The Mercury fell to the San Antonio Silver Stars 83-82 on Sunday afternoon ending the regular season with a record of 15-19. DeWanna Bonner, who started in place of a resting Penny Taylor, led the Mercury with 20 points and 12 rebounds, her fourth double-double of the season and ninth of her career. Taylor Lilley, who recorded her first WNBA start in place of Diana Taurasi (DNP - Coach's Decision), hit a three-pointer with 19.3 seconds left giving her 12 points on the night and Phoenix an 80-79 lead. San Antonio's Sophia Young then scored the Silver Stars' final four points including a three point play with .9 seconds remaining to seal the win. Ketia Swanier finished with 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting while Kara Braxton added 10 points off the bench.

POSTSEASON SCHEDULE

With the win tonight San Antonio secured the third seed in the playoffs. With the second seed, the Mercury will host the Silver Stars in the Conference Semifinals beginning on Thursday at 6 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN2. The rest of the first round schedule is as follows:
