Mystics Win Eastern Conference Regular Season Championship

Washington, D.C. - The Washington Mystics have wont the Eastern Conference regular season championship and earned the top seed in the Eastern Conference following a 90-81 victory over the Atlanta Dream. It is the first time in franchise history that the Mystics have been the number one seed in post season play. Washington also recorded its first 20+win season. This is also the first time the Mystics have reached the playoffs in back-to-back seasons.

The Mystics will face the number four seed, Atlanta Dream on Wednesday, August 25 at Verizon Center. Tipoff is at 7:00 p.m. Game two of the three game series will be on Friday, August 27 at Philips Arena in Atlanta. Game three, if necessary, will be played at Verizon Center on Sunday, August 29 at 4:00 p.m.

"We know winning the regular season conference championship isn't the big prize, but it is as great first step towards our ultimate goal. The distance we have come as an organization the past two years is a testament to Angela Taylor, Julie Plank, our players and our staff," stated Mystics Chief Operating Officer, Greg Bibb. "I'm happy for Ted Leonsis, Sheila Johnson, the team and most importantly our fans who have waited a long time for this. They deserve it and hopefully we can continue this ride through the playoffs."
