Bakersfield Blaze News Release

At this rate, Joe DeCarlo might want to keep all of his clothes in a suitcase and not ever return to Bakersfield.

For the third consecutive day a DeCarlo home run turned out to be a severe body shot to the Giants (33-24) as the Blaze (29-28) took Game 3 in San Jose, 8-3.

DeCarlo's two-run homer in the second inning was after the Giants took a 1-0 lead. The third baseman went deep for the fifth time this year and fourth in his last three games, but it wasn't even the highlight of the evening.

Kyle Petty stole some of DeCarlo's shine, but it was well earned.

Petty hit a 453-foot drive to left field that punctuated the night and buried the Giants for good.

Bakersfield got tremendous starting pitching from Tyler Herb (W, 6-2) and the offense supported him throughout.

Herb went seven innings, struck out three, and gave up a run in his performance.

The Blaze logged their seventh consecutive win and have now won 11 of their last 13 on the road.

After sweeping Stockton in a three-game series, the Blaze now have their eyes set on doing the same to San Jose.

The Giants came to Bakersfield and swept the Blaze in a three-game series (May 10-12), but now they are looking to avoid that same fate. The loss drops San Jose to 5-5 on their current 11-game homestand as they sit four games in front of the Blaze as both teams near the halfway point.

The series finale is Tuesday night in San Jose. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30pm with David Gascon on the call courtesy of TuneIn Radio and BakersfieldBlaze.com.
