Evansville Thunderbolts News Release

Evansville, Ind: Ryan de Melo has played consistently well in net for Evansville since being signed by the team two weeks ago and Friday night may have been his best game yet. Although the Thunderbolts lost 3-2, de Melo kept the Bolts in the game with huge saves, helping to force overtime against the Macon Mayhem.

Down 1-0 in the third period, a one-on-one rush by Shayne Morrissey, from Frank Schumacher and John Scorcia, would lead to a shot going off the post, off the back of goalie Charlie Finn, and into the back of the net, tying the game at the 7:14 mark. The Bolts would take a 2-1 lead minutes later, as Robbie Hall would follow up on a chance by Mark Petaccio to bury a rebound, making it 2-1 at the 10:29 mark. Dylan Clarke would get the assist.

For Evansville, Morrissey and Hall had the goals and de Melo finished with 30 saves. The Thunderbolts return to action tomorrow night for Superhero Night at Ford Center, taking on the Peoria Rivermen. Face-off tomorrow night will be at 7:15 p.m. CST. Following the game, special jerseys worn by the players will be auctioned off.
