EVANSVILLE, IN- Macon Mayhem leading scorer Jake Trask added to his career-year against the Evansville Thunderbolts on Friday, as he scored two goals, including the game-winning overtime goal, to help defeat Evansville 3-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED

In a slow-starting hockey game, the Mayhem grabbed the lead in the first period with a power play goal. Jake Trask received the puck in the high slot off of passes from Brandon Pfeil and Dakota Klecha, and he buried it past the glove of Evansville goaltender Ryan de Melo. That was the only tally for either team through two periods, but the two squads were ready for an entertaining ending.

Evansville opened the scoring with a short-handed goal at the 7:14 mark of the third period from Mark Petaccio. They followed up with another goal three minutes later to grab their first lead of the game. Just 23 seconds later, Macon's Kevin Irwin fired a shot past the goaltender on a two-on-one to tie the game. The two teams would battle their way to overtime, where Jake Trask scored the game-winner on a breakaway just 28 seconds into the overtime period.

NOTABLE STATS

Charlie Finn earned his third straight win, his third three-game winning streak of the season. He stopped 35 of the 37 shots he faced to move to 13-5-1 on the season.

Jake Trask - two goals, Dakota Klecha - two assists, and Brandon Pfeil - two assists - led the Mayhem with two points apiece. Kevin Irwin and Dennis Sicard collected one point.

Kevin Irwin's third-period goal was his first career professional goal, and it came in his first career professional game. The University of Vermont product signed a three-game tryout with the Mayhem on Wednesday and made his debut against Evansville.
