Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Pensacola Ice Flyers faced off against the Fayetteville Marksmen in their second game of a three-game set and came away with a 2-1 victory Friday night.

David Mazurek got the Ice Flyers on the board just over 12 minutes into the opening frame when he banked his own rebound off of Marksmen netminder Patrick Spano from behind the net. Newly-signed Chapen LeBlond tallied his first Ice Flyers point with an assist on Mazurek's goal with Christian Weidauer adding the other assist.

Fayetteville would tie it up towards the end of the second period when defenseman Brad Campagna took a feed in the slot and beat Ice Flyers' goalie Gordie Defiel.

At the half way point in the third, Jari Allevi came down on a two-on-one rush, beat the defenseman and gathered his own rebound to give Pensacola the lead. Allevi's first goal as an Ice Flyer turned out to be the game-winning goal.

Pensacola outshot Fayetteville 34-29. Spano stopped 32 of 34 shots, while Defiel recorded his 12th win of the season in the 28-save performance.

The same two teams square off Saturday at 5 p.m. CST, concluding the weekend series. The Ice Flyers will return home next Friday and Saturday for $5 Weekend versus the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs.
