Dazzle predraft roster continues to take shape

Roanoke, Va., November 3 - The Roanoke Dazzle's pre-draft training camp roster continues to take shape leading up to tonight's NBA Development League Draft. Joining previously announced returning players Isiah Victor and Sung-Yoon Bang are Kevin Owens and Seth Doliboa. In addition to the returning players, the NBA Development League has allocated former University of Virginia standout Jason Clark and West Virginia University star Tyrone Sally to the training camp roster of the Dazzle. The last addition to the pre-draft training camp roster is James Taylor, who participated in local tryouts here in Roanoke on October 8th and 9th.

Kevin Owens, a 6-10 center, returns for his third season with the Roanoke Dazzle. Last season, Owens averaged 7.9 points and 7 rebounds per game. Assistant Coach Chucky Brown says "Owens is being counted on to bring a lot of veteran leadership to the Dazzle roster."

Also returning to the Dazzle roster is Seth Doliboa. This will be Doliboa's second season in a Dazzle uniform after coming to Roanoke for the second half of last season in a trade with the Columbus Riverdragons. Immediately breaking into the line-up, Doliboa averaged 12.5 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.

Being allocated to the Dazzle by the NBA Development League are Jason Clark from the University of Virginia and Tyrone Sally from West Virginia University. D-League rules require the Dazzle to keep at least one of the allocated players on their 2005-06 roster.

A 6-8 power forward, Jason Clark spent his collegiate career with the University of Virginia. For his career at Virginia, Clark averaged 4.6 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. Prior to playing for the Cavaliers, Clark attended Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va.

Also being allocated to the Dazzle is former West Virginia University forward, Tyrone Sally. Sally, originally from Richmond, Virginia, led the Mountaineers in scoring last season averaging 12.2 points per game and finished 34th on West Virginia's all-time scoring list with 1,092 points for his career.

James Taylor is the last addition to the pre-draft training camp roster for the Roanoke Dazzle. Taylor, a 6-1 guard, played his college basketball at Lynn University, a Division II school in Boca Raton, Fla. Taylor earned his spot on the Dazzle training camp roster by participating in the Dazzle's local tryouts held on Oct. 8th and 9th. For his career at Lynn, Taylor averaged 12.4 points and 2.6 assists per game.

The Dazzle will round out their training camp roster tonight with ten picks in the NBA Development League Draft. The D-League Draft starts at 7:00 p.m. and can be followed live on www.nbadleague.com.

The NBA Development League includes the Albuquerque Thunderbirds (N.M.), Arkansas RimRockers (Little Rock), Austin Toros (Texas), Fayetteville Patriots (N.C.), Florida Flame (Ft. Myers), Fort Worth Flyers (Texas), Roanoke Dazzle (Va.) and Tulsa 66ers (Okla.).

The D-League offers players the opportunity to develop their talent in a highly competitive atmosphere under the NBA's umbrella. Thirty-four (34) players have been called up to the NBA on 50 separate occasions. Eleven (11) former D-League coaches, six athletic trainers, 14 referees and 30 front office executives have also been called up since the start of the league's inaugural season in November 2001.

Designed to help grow the sport of basketball both domestically and internationally, the league also offers fun, family entertainment at affordable prices. The D-League is a source of on-court talent for the NBA's 30 teams and is a diverse human resources pool for the NBA and its teams by training employees in management, operations, public relations, sales and marketing positions.
