Roanoke, Va., April 7 - The Roanoke Dazzle head into tonight's regular season finale against the Fayetteville Patriots knowing they are in the NBA Development League playoffs for the third time in the team's five year history. What the team doesn't know is what seed they will have and where that playoff game will take place.
The Dazzle were able to clinch a spot in the D-League playoffs due to loses last night by the Arkansas RimRockers and Austin Toros, which were both teams' regular season finales.
The Dazzle still have a chance of securing a second place finish and a home playoff game if they can defeat the Patriots tonight in Fayetteville and the Albuquerque Thunderbirds drop at least one of their two remaining games.
The Thunderbirds will face the Tulsa 66ers tonight in Tulsa and then head to Fort Worth to take on the first-place Flyers in the last game of the regular season.
Even if the Dazzle lose to Fayetteville tonight they can still finish second in the league and host a playoff game. This scenario would require Albuquerque to lose both of their remaining games and for the Florida Flame to lose their regular season finale tomorrow night when the Patriots head to Fort Meyers. A Flame loss would eliminate them from playoff contention and would clinch the final spot for the Austin Toros.
If the Dazzle hosts a first-round playoff game, it would be held Friday, April 14 at the Salem Civic Center with tip-off slated for 7:00 p.m. This game would be played in Salem due to scheduling conflicts that weekend at the Roanoke Civic Center.
