Florida Flame announce training camp additions

FORT MYERS, Fla., November 3 - The Florida Flame, presented by Century 21 Sunbelt Realty, have announced the allocation, returning, and open tryout player lists for their 2005-06 training camp which begins Sunday, November 6 in Fort Myers.

Florida native and two-year NBA veteran Theron Smith and Florida Southern's Chris Brooks have been named the Flame's allocation players for the 2005-06 season. The Flame will also welcome back four members of the 2004-05 squad, including: Hiram Fuller, Tremaine Fowlkes, Kendall Dartez, and Sean Finn. In addition, the Flame has extended a training camp invitation to former Florida Gulf Coast University forward Roman Brown who participated in Florida's open player tryouts on October 29-30 in Naples. These seven training camp additions will be supplemented by ten players from tonight's 2005 NBA Development League Draft. The league's fifth annual draft will take place over 10 rounds and be conducted via conference call from locations in each of the eight NBA D-League markets. The selection process will operate in like fashion to last year's draft, with each team having one pick in each of the 10 rounds. The Flame will make their selections in the 2005 NBA Development League Player Draft via conference call alongside fans, season ticket holders, sponsors and local media during the Flame's 2005 D-League Draft Party tonight at Grills of Naples Sports Bar & Restaurant in Naples, Fla. The Flame's 2005 D-League Draft Party at Grills is open to the public. Doors for the Draft Party will open at 6 p.m. The first round of the draft will begin at 7 p.m. Grills of Naples Sports Bar & Restaurant is located on U.S. 41 at 8004 Trail Blvd. in Naples, just south of Vanderbilt Beach Road. Florida will face the Arkansas RimRockers on Saturday, November 12 in an NBA Development League preseason game at the CSN Fieldhouse on the campus of the Community School of Naples. Ticket proceeds will be donated to Southwest Florida's Animal Refuge Center, Inc. (ARC) for the care of animals displaced by Hurricanes Wilma, Katrina, and Rita. Florida opens its 2005-06 D-League regular season schedule on Friday, November 25 at 7:00 p.m. against the Roanoke Dazzle at Germain Arena. The Florida Flame is the official D-League affiliate of the NBA's Miami Heat, Boston Celtics, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Orlando Magic.
