
Minnesota Timberwolves Re-Call Flame Guard Bracey Wright

FORT MYERS, Fla., April 10 - The Minnesota Timberwolves have re-called guard Bracey Wright from the Florida Flame of the NBA Development League, it was announced today by Timberwolves Vice President of Basketball Operations, Kevin McHale. The Flame is the Timberwolves D-League affiliate for the 2005-06 season.
Wright was assigned to Florida on November 4, 2005 after being selected by the Timberwolves in the second round of the 2005 NBA Draft (47th overall). The 6-3, rookie appeared and started in 30 games for the Flame and led the D-League in scoring average (22.0 ppg) and minutes per game (37.6) during the regular season. Wright also ranked fourth in the D-League in three-point field goal percentage (.427) and seventh in assists average (4.1). The former Indiana Hoosier shot 46.1 percent from the field and 80 percent from the foul line. Wright tallied 20+ points in 21 games, 30+ points four times, and led Florida in scoring in 22 of 30 contests. The Colony, Texas native delivered a Flame season-high 33 points on two occasions; December 2, 2005 at Roanoke and February 18, 2006 at Roanoke.
Wright was re-called by Minnesota on January 10, 2006 and appeared in two regular season games for the Timberwolves, averaging 3.0 points in 4.0 minutes per contest. Wright posted a season-high five points on 2-5 shooting in six minutes versus the Detroit Pistons on January 24 at the Target Center.
Wright averaged 7.7 points, 2.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 17.0 minutes per game in starting three games for the Timberwolves' 2005 Minnesota Summer League entry. He registered 5.7 points, 1.0 rebounds and 18.2 minutes per game in six preseason contests this fall. Wright was an early entry candidate for the draft after spending three seasons at Indiana University (2002-03 - 2004-05).
The guard ranks 15th all-time at Indiana with 1,498 career points and is tied for third with 186 career three-point field goals made. As a junior in 2004-05, the native of The Colony, Texas, led the Big 10 Conference in scoring (18.3 ppg), while posting 25 or more points on seven occasions.
Florida will square off against the Albuquerque Thunderbirds on Saturday, April 15 in the semifinals of the 2006 NBA Development League Championship presented by Delta Airlines. Tip-off is 3 p.m. ET/ 1 p.m. MT at Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, N.M.
Both Florida and Albuquerque are making their first postseason appearance. The Flame enters the postseason as the number three seed, posting a 25-23 overall record during the 2005-06 regular season. The Thunderbirds enter the playoff round as the number two seed after posting a 26-22 regular season mark.
In Saturday's other semifinal game, the 2005-06 D-League regular season champion and number one seed Fort Worth Flyers (28-20) will meet the number four seed Roanoke Dazzle (25-23) at the Fort Worth Convention Center in Fort Worth, Texas. Tip-off time is 8 p.m. ET/ 7 p.m. CT. The winners of both games will meet for the D-League championship on the weekend of April 21-22 at the home arena of the highest remaining seed.
