PLAYOFF SCHEDULE: The 2006 NBA Development League Championship presented by
Delta Air Lines begins on Saturday, April 15 with a pair of semi-final
games. Following is the semi-final round schedule:
Day Date Game Time
Saturday April 15 Florida (3) at Albuquerque (2) 1 p.m. MT
Saturday April 15 Roanoke (4) at Fort Worth (1) 7 p.m. CT
SERIOUSLY, NO SERIES: The D-League Championship is a one-game, sudden-death format. The winner of Saturday's semi-final games will play for the D-League championship the weekend of April 21-23 (exact date/time TBD) at the arena of the highest remaining seed. That game is a one-game, winner-take-all as well.
POSTSEASON ON NBA TV: All three D-League playoff games will be aired on NBA TV. The two semi-final games will be aired on April 20 and April 21, both at 8 p.m. ET. The championship game is set to air on April 25 at 4 p.m. ET.
TRENDS: Florida, Roanoke and Albuquerque head into the postseason on winning trends. The Flame has won four of its last six, while the Thunderbirds have won nine of 12 and Roanoke six of nine. Fort Worth has lost three of its last four games.
COOP IN THE POSTSEASON: While this will be his first D-League postseason experience, it definitely won't be the first time Albuquerque coach Michael Cooper has played or coached with a title on the line. Cooper was a member of five NBA championship teams as a player with the Los Angeles Lakers and coached the Los Angeles Sparks to a pair of WNBA Championships (2001 and 2002).
THEY SAID IT: ''He was a great winner, a great big-game player, and when I was on the Celtics, we never lost a game because of Dennis Johnson. And if he's not in the Hall of Fame, I don't know why I am." ... Bill Walton told the Boston Globe on former Celtics player and current Austin Toros coach Dennis Johnson.
