
2006 NBA Development League playoffs set

GREENVILLE, S.C., April 10 - The regular season champion Fort Worth Flyers are the top seed in the 2006 NBA Development League Championship presented by Delta Air Lines that gets underway with semi-final games in Fort Worth (Texas) and Albuquerque (N.M.) Saturday, April 15.
The Flyers will host the Roanoke Dazzle, which comes into the postseason as the No. 4 seed. Tip off for that game is 7 p.m. CT at the Fort Worth Convention Center. Albuquerque, the No. 2 seed, will host No. 3 Florida at Tingley Coliseum at 1 p.m. MT. The winner of those games will advance to the championship game at the arena of the highest remaining seed on the weekend of April 21-23.
Both semi-final games will be televised by NBA TV. The game between Fort Worth and Roanoke will air on Thursday, April 20 at 8 p.m. ET and the Florida-Albuquerque game will air Friday, April 21 at 8 p.m. ET. NBA TV will also air the championship game on Tuesday, April 25 at 4 p.m. ET.
Fort Worth comes into the playoffs with a 28-20 regular season record. The Flyers are making their first D-League postseason appearance and are the first expansion team to win a regular season title. Roanoke, 25-23, will be making its third trip to the postseason.
Albuquerque finished the season at 26-22. Florida was 25-23. The Flame finished tied for third with Roanoke, but earned the third seed by virtue of a 7-5 series record against the Dazzle this season.
The D-League is developing talent from across all disciplines for the NBA's 30 teams and the entire NBA umbrella. This season 19 NBA teams have assigned 29 players to D-League affiliates. There have also been 17 GATORADE Call-Ups from the D-League to the NBA this season. Additionally, every referee hired by the NBA since 2002 has worked in the D-League, while coaches, athletic trainers and front office executives are also being developed.
The D-League has a proven track record of developing talent both on and off the court, with more than 100 players, coaches, referees, athletic trainers and front-office personnel moving to NBA teams or the league office.
