Montreal Alouettes News Release
Sherbrooke, June 11, 2010- Training camp may just be six days old, but the Montreal Alouettes are already getting into game mode in preparation for Sunday, when they will face the Blue Bombers at Winnipeg's Canad Inns Stadium at 2 p.m. (CJAD).
For many, it will be either their first professional game or their first game in the CFL. For Marc-Olivier Brouillette, it'll be all the more challenging to adapt as he has moved from being a quarterback in college to practicing at outside linebacker with the Alouettes.
"I'll be nervous at the beginning of the game, that's for sure. But I'm confident - the last two days of practice have been my best. I'm now comfortable at the linebacker position and I think I'll be able to adapt quickly to the speed of the game," said Brouillette, who was chosen by the Alouettes in the third round of this year's draft.
Brouillette may also see some action as a holder, a position he practiced at on Friday. "I played at that position when I was in college, but since I was the quarterback, the coaches would try to avoid this situation so I wouldn't get hurt. I'm very comfortable as a holder, though."
Enter the younger Cobourne
Another player who will see his first CFL action will be Patrick Cobourne, the younger brother of Als running back and 2009 Grey Cup MVP, Avon.
"I'm very grateful that Coach Trestman is giving me the opportunity," Patrick Cobourne said. "My brother has always given me guidance and the advice he gave me is to work hard and always finish the play. Even if I don't have the ball, we could still score."
New to the club
Import kicker Colt David joined the Alouettes today, taking part in his first two practices of training camp. After a shortage of receivers, import wide receivers D.J. Boldin and Marcus Freeman rejoined the team after being released a few days earlier.
No longer with the team
Import running back Tracy Ford and import tackle Justin Lawrence have been released by the Alouettes.
Tomorrow
The Alouettes will head out to Winnipeg in advance of Sunday's pre-season tilt with the Blue Bombers. The team will then return to Coulter Field at Bishop's University on Tuesday, hitting the field at 7:50 a.m. The Alouettes will stay in the Eastern Townships until June 18.
