
Davion Berry notches career-high 28 points against former team in win

Raptors 905 guard Davion Berry recorded an NBA Development League career-high 28 points and a franchise-high six steals in his first game against his former team as the Mississauga club defeated the Maine Red Claws 114-110 in overtime Sunday evening at Portland Exposition Building in Portland, Maine.
The first half of the opening quarter saw four lead changes and six times tied before Raptors 905 went on a 15-5 run in the final six minutes of the period to take a 35-25 lead heading into the second quarter. Maine clawed back to within seven points with two minutes remaining in the first half, but Raptors 905 enjoyed a 9-2 surge late in the period to restore a double-digit advantage and led 64-52 at the break.
The Red Claws began the second half with an 18-1 run in the first three-and-a-half minutes to erase the deficit and carried that momentum to an 11-point lead, 91-80, heading into the fourth quarter. Maine led by nine with less than four minutes to play in regulation, but a 9-0 Raptors 905 run to round out the fourth frame forced overtime, tied 105-105. Raptors 905 out-paced Maine 9-5 in OT to secure the win.
Leading Raptors 905 in points were Berry (game-high 28), Scott Suggs (23), Sim Bhullar (18), Shannon Scott (15), E.J. Singler (11) and Michale Kyser (10). Singler had a game-high 15 rebounds, while Kyser and Bhullar collected 14 and 12 boards, respectively, as all three players completed double-doubles. Bhullar also had a game-high four blocks. Scoring in double digits for the Red Claws were Levi Randolph (25), Marcus Thornton (19), Omari Johnson (19), Malcolm Miller (16), Corey Walden (11) and Andre Stringer (11). Miller completed a double-double with 10 rebounds, while Walden added a game-high seven assists.
Raptors 905 led Maine in field goal percentage (45.5-44.8), points in the paint (62-60) and second-chance points (26-13), while the Red Claws held the advantage in three point percentage (29.7-25.0), free throw percentage (68.4-63.0) and fast-break points (13-8).
Raptors 905 is back in action Thursday, March 24 when the club visits the Westchester Knicks at 7 p.m.
