Bakersfield Jam News Release

AUSTIN, TX - A four-game road trip got off to a blazing start, as the Bakersfield Jam (21-23) defeated the Austin Spurs (25-19) 103-73 Sunday afternoon at the Cedar Park Center. Terrico White (25 points, 9 rebounds) and Cory Jefferson (23 points, 8 rebounds) led the way for the Jam.

White paced the Jam in the opening period as he scored 10 points (4/6 FGs) and helped Bakersfield end the first quarter with a 33-21 advantage. As a team, Bakersfield converted 6-of-12 from beyond the arc in the quarter alone. In the second frame, Austin cut down the Jam's double-digit lead to two points (36-34) at the 8:31 mark, but that would be as close as the Spurs got all game. Bakersfield would go into the break ahead 52-45.

The Jam dominated the second half, scoring 51 points on 58.8 percent shooting from the field, while holding Austin to a total of 28 points (38.4%).

Xavier Silas tallied 16 points and six rebounds while Deonte Burton scored 14 points. Askia Booker came off the bench and had 11 points and a game-high six assists. Derek Cooke Jr. added 10 points, eight rebounds, two steals and two blocks.

The Spurs were led by San Antonio Spurs assignee Boban Marjanavic (21 points, 15 rebounds) and Keifer Sykes (12 points, 5 assists). Jonathan Simmons, also on assignment from the Spurs, finished with 12 points.

Bakersfield will next head to Oklahoma City for a match against the Blue on Tuesday, March 22 at 5:00 p.m. PT.
