
Davila Records Career High Strikeouts, But Legends Still Fall in Game Two to GreenJackets

SRP PARK (North Augusta, SC) - Despite a career night on the mound for Garrett Davila, the Lexington Legends dropped game two against the Augusta GreenJackets, 7-4. The Legends drop to 45-43 while the GreenJackets improve to 46-43.
The GreenJackets plated their first runs of the game in the bottom of the first inning. Heliot Ramos and Manuel Geraldo started the inning with back-to-back singles then both moved up a base on a wild pitch by Jackson Kowar. Kowar then walked Gonzalez to load the bases. Ryan Kirby smacked a two-run double to right field and Augusta jumped ahead 2-0. With Gonzalez at third and Kirby at first, Kowar also walked Garcia to load the bases again. A wild pitch then scored Gonzalez and the GreenJackets led 3-0.
The Legends scored their first run of the game in the top of the third. Brewer Hicklen led off with a single down the third base line then was doubled home by MJ Melendez. Lexington trailed 3-1 after the third.
In the bottom of the fifth, Ramos blasted his seventh home run of the season, extending Augusta's lead 4-1. Manuel Geraldo then singled to centerfield. Two batters later, Kirby homered to right field and the GreenJackets led 6-1. Orlando Garcia then singled to left field and swiped second base with Shane Matheny at the plate. Logan Baldwin then hit a soft liner to left field, scoring Garcia and further extending Augusta's lead 7-1.
In the top of the seventh, Melendez drew a leadoff walk then moved to second on a single by Nick Pratto. Melendez moved to third on a fly out by Seuly Matias. Sebastian Rivero then popped up a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Melendez and the Legends continued to trail 7-2.
The Legends continued to score in the top of the eighth. Hicklen smashed his 12th home run of the season, pulling Lexington within three, 7-4.
Kowar was given the loss in his professional debut tossing 0.1 inning allowing three runs on three hits while walking two and striking out one. Garrett Davila pitched in relief, throwing 4.1 innings allowing four runs on five hits while walking one. He struck out a career high nine batters. Stetson Woods was awarded the win pitching 3.0 innings allowing one run on three hits while walking one and striking out three.
The Legends and GreenJackets meet again tomorrow night for the series finale at 7:05 p.m. at SRP Park. Augusta will send RHP Garrett Cave (5-4, 4.87 ERA) to the mound and Lexington is TBD.
