BlueClaws Sweep Pair from Asheville on Thursday

LAKEWOOD, NJ - The BlueClaws swept a double-header from Asheville on Thursday night, winning the first game 4-1 and the second game 5-2.
The BlueClaws improved to 12-8/53-36 on the year while Asheville falls to 11-8/38-50 as Lakewood took the first two meetings of the season from Asheville.
Game One
Spencer Howard (5-7) threw a complete game, allowing one run on three hits, as the BlueClaws topped Asheville 4-1. Howard finished seven innings for the first time in his career, adding eight strikeouts.
The BlueClaws broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the sixth inning on a SAC fly by Jhailyn Ortiz. Rodolfo Duran added a SAC fly of his own and Matt Vierling hit an RBI double to cap the three-run inning.
Jake Scheiner (10th) homered in the first to open the scoring off Asheville starter Lucas Gilbreath (4-5). Casey Golden (19th) homered off Howard in the second inning to tie the game. Jake Scheiner and Matt Vierling each had two hits.
Game Two
Lakewood scored four times in the second inning to break open the game en route to a __ win over Asheville.
After Colby Fitch's RBI single the first, the BlueClaws put four on the board in the second. Edwin Rodriguez started the scoring with an RBI single. A fielder's choice from Simon Muzziotti scored a run, and Lakewood added runs on a Jhailyn Ortiz RBI single and SAC fly from Fitch.
Damon Jones (7-3) gave up two runs over six innings to earn the win while Connor Brogdonthrew a scoreless seventh to earn his second save.
Daniel Brito, Dalton Guthrie, and Jhailyn Ortiz had two hits apiece for the BlueClaws in the win. The teams complete their series on Friday night at 7:05 pm. RHP Andrew Brown (3-1) starts for Lakewood opposite LHP Nick Kennedy (2-8).
