Medford Rogues News Release

WENATCHEE, WA - A pitcher's duel was ruined by a five-run Medford eighth inning as the Rogues took game two of a three-game series in Wenatchee by a score of 9-3.

The AppleSox pushed across a run in the first after a single and error by Rogues catcher Bo Cornish to take a 1-0 lead after one inning.

Rogues catcher Bo Cornish, in his first start behind the plate since returning from a hip injury, homered in his first at-bat in the third inning to tie the game at one.

In the fourth inning Wenatchee's Kramer Ferrell scored on a fielder's choice to make it 2-1 AppleSox and 2B Joe Mello homered in the bottom of the fifth to extend the lead to 3-1.

The score held to the Medford eighth when Rogues broke it open with five runs. First baseman Kevin Davidson got his second hit of the night following walks to Joe Chavez and Spencer Smith. Chavez scored on the Davidson single to bring the score to 3-2 Wenatchee. Consecutive base hits by LF A.J. Balta, 3B Parker Miles and DH Matt Taylor scored three more runs for the Rogues, and a double steal by Miles and Taylor scored the fifth Medford run of the inning and sixth of the game.

The Rogues scored three more in the ninth as pinch hitter Danny McNabb and Smith each singled. A Sox error scored McNabb and Davidson followed with his fourth home run of the year, a two-run shot to make it 9-3 Rogues.

Rogues starter and former Ashland High star Jamie Flynn had a solid start for Medford, going five full innings and allowing three runs and five hits. Reliever John Forsythe (1-0) picked up the win for Medford, finishing the game with four shutout innings while giving up only one hit.
