Medford Rogues News Release

WENATCHEE, WA - Medford could not keep their momentum going after taking a series from first-place Bend as the Rogues dropped the first of a three-game series with a 10-2 loss in Wenatchee to the defending West Coast League Champion AppleSox.

The AppleSox scored two-out runs in each of the first two innings off Rogues LHP Bret DeRooy. The Rogues answered with two in the third with an infield single by OF Danny McNabb, a double by SS Joe Chavez and an RBI single from 1B Kevin Davidson.

DeRooy (1-2) danced out of trouble for the next four innings, scattering 11 hits through his five-plus-inning stint. RHP Dillon Keene relieved DeRooy after two bunt singles led off the sixth for the AppleSox. Keene allowed two inherited runners to score and allowed two runs of his own with the help of a Rogues error, and the sixth ended with the Wenatchee ahead 6-2. Rogues RHP Christian Morrison allowed four runs in the seventh and eighth to bring the score to 10-2.

Wenatchee's Beau Kerns (2-2) handled the Rogues well after the two-run second inning, retiring 13 in a row before leaving the game after seven innings. Houston Hibberd finished off the last two innings for Wenatchee.

1B Connor Spencer went 5-5 for Wenatchee with four singles and a double while DH Andre Real drove in two for the AppleSox. Bret Stephens and Grant Palmer had three hits each to lead the 19-hit Wenatchee attack.

Medford moves to 13-18 on the year while the AppleSox reach the opposite record at 18-13. The two teams meet Sunday night at 5:05 from Paul Thomas Jr. Stadium in Wenatchee.
