David Wright to Rehab with St. Lucie Mets

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - New York Mets third baseman and captain David Wright will join the St. Lucie Mets on a rehab assignment beginning Monday.
The Mets host the Fort Myers Miracle Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. All three games at Tradition Field start at 6:30 p.m. Wright will DH on Monday and he plans to play the field on Tuesday.
Wright played eight games for New York this season before landing on the disabled list with a hamstring strain. While recovering from the injury, Wright was diagnosed with spinal stenosis and he has yet to return to action.
Wright has spent a majority of his season working on his back in California. He recently rejoined the Mets in New York and traveled with the team to Miami for a series last week against the Marlins. On Wednesday, Wright returned to the Mets complex in Port St. Lucie and has continued baseball activities. He has been cleared for game action on Monday.
The last time Wright played for St. Lucie was in a rehab stint in 2011. He played in six games and went 10 for 21 with three doubles.
Wright was a fulltime member of the St. Lucie Mets in 2003. That season he played in 133 games and hit .270. He led the Florida State League with 39 doubles and was voted to the FSL All Star team.
In 2013 Wright was inducted into the Florida State League Hall of Fame.
