Port Huron Fighting Falcons News Release

PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Fighting Falcons today announced that Vice President/Business Manager Dave Goetze has resigned from his position with the team, effective today. Goetze has accepted the Director of College Advancement and Alumni Relations position at St. Clair Community College on August 16.

Goetze had been working both jobs since accepting the new role at the college in August, performing duties for SC4 full-time, while working part-time for the Fighting Falcons.

"I feel it is only fair to the college, as well as our new team to resign from my part-time with the Fighting Falcons," Goetze said. "I will be devoting my energies completely to serving the college by working with their SC4 Foundation and the SC4 Alumni. I wish the ownership group and staff of the Fighting Falcons and McMorran Arena nothing but the best, and I am more than confident that their tireless efforts will bring them success in this venture."

Before joining the front office of the Fighting Falcons, Goetze had performed the same role with the Port Huron Icehawks for the past three years. The 1986 graduate of Central Michigan University also works closely with the Detroit Red Wings Alumni Association, as well as the Diabetes Care charity organization.

A lifetime resident of Port Huron, Goetze has been one of the most recognizable business leaders in the community. The Icehawks averaged a 10% increase in ticket sales in their final two seasons.

Goetze will not be leaving hockey completely, as he plans to put on a charity game between the Detroit Red Wings Alumni and the SC4 Foundation Saturday, March 26 at McMorran Place Arena. The game will take place before the Fighting Falcons final regular season game, and will mark the 11thconsecutive year that the Red Wings Alumni will play in Port Huron.

"I truly hope that hockey fans and everyone in our community will support the Fighting Falcons in their all-important first season in the NAHL," said Goetze. "I think this level of hockey is very exciting, and I wouldn't be surprised to see fans buy a single ticket to the home opener October 1, then become season ticket holders the next afternoon. With so many NAHL alumni in the NHL, this team gives fans a chance to see future stars on a nightly basis."
