WINSTON-SALEM, NC (May 20, 2012) - The Dash could not complete a series sweep over Lynchburg, falling 5-1 to the Hillcats in front of 4,009 fans Sunday afternoon at BB&T Ballpark.

Lynchburg (23-18) took the lead for only the second time of the series with a two-run blast by Tommy La Stella in the first inning. Nick Ahmed drew a one-out walk and came home to score on the screaming liner from La Stella that hit off the bridge in right field.

Winston-Salem (24-17) could not overcome the 2-0 deficit. Lynchburg pitchers combined to strike out 12 and hold a potent Dash offense to two runs on seven hits.

Hillcats starter Gus Schlosser carried a no-hitter through five innings before Nick Ciolli led off the sixth with a slicing line drive into left field. The single allowed the Dash to finally break through on Schlosser. Juan Silverio then doubled to score Ciolli to put the Dash on the board.

Winston-Salem hung around with a mini rally in the ninth. Brady Shoemaker smacked a double off the right field wall to grab his league-leading 53rd hit of the season. Michael Earley drove in Shoemaker but was stranded at second to end the game.

The Dash have an off day Monday before beginning a six-game road trip with three games against Salem and three against Carolina. Right-hander Jon Bachanov (4-0, 3.24 ERA) gets the start Tuesday night in Salem. The Red Sox send righty Miguel Celestino (2-1, 3.82 ERA) to the mound. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m.

Winston-Salem returns home to BB&T Ballpark for an eight-game homestand beginning with a Memorial Day doubleheader. First pitch on Monday, May 28 is set for 4:00 p.m.

Tickets to the 2012 California-Carolina League All-Star Game are now on sale. For tickets and more information on the Dash, visit wsdash.com or call (336) 714-2287.
