Lynchburg Hillcats News Release

Winston-Salem, NC - The Hillcats surrendered 18 runs over both ends of a doubleheader Monday night. The Dash went off for 29 hits, including three home runs defeating the Hillcats 10-0 and 8-3. Joey Terdoslavich had the lone highlight of the night, launching his 17th home run of the season in the nightcap.

Play started in the bottom of the first inning in game one Monday night. The game was being continued from a suspended contest back on June 28. So the visiting Hillcats took the field first, and the Dash started on offense.

Winston-Salem set the tone early for their offensive onslaught with two runs in the first. Brady Shoemaker drove in Tyler Saladino with a sacrifice fly to left field. Then Ian Gac looped a singled into left center to score Jared Mitchell.

RHP David Hale settled down a bit after the first. He sat down eight of 11 batters through the second, third, and fourth innings, holding the Dash scoreless until they struck again in the fifth.

Andy Wilkins singled in a pair with the bases loaded. Mike Blanke followed with a sacrifice fly to center field. Winston-Salem took a 5-0 lead after five frames.

RHP Andre Rienzo came out to start the second inning for the Dash, relieving Matt Wickswat who had started the suspended game back in June. Rienzo completed five scoreless innings, allowing five hits and a walk, while striking out nine.

The Dash added four more runs in the seventh inning. Ian Gac hit his league leading 31st home run of the season, and Nick Ciolli went deep for the 10thtime. Both were two run shots.

One final run in the eighth made it 10-0 Dash and that's the way the suspended game would finish.

Rienzo (3-3) earned the win, Hale (1-3) took the loss, and Leroy Hunt pitched the last three innings to collect the save, his second of the year.

The Hillcats found themselves in an early hole again in game two.

Winston-Salem jumped on starter Gary Moran for two in the first inning. Shoemaker singled home Mitchell and Wilkins with two outs in the frame.

In the second, Moran gave up back-to-back single to start. Mitchell then popped a bunt in the air up the first base line. Moran fielded the bunt and was able to get a fielder's choice at second base. Moran came up injured on the play but stayed in the game for two more batters. After a pair of singles Moran was taken out due to the injury in his right leg.

RHP Mark Lamm entered with the bases loaded and one out. He let two inherited runners score before getting out of the inning. The Dash led 5-0.

Joey Terdoslavich delivered the Hillcats first run of the night with a solo homer in the top of the fourth. It was his 17th of the season.

The Dash added three more in the bottom of the fourth. Juan Silverio had an RBI double, before Kevin Dubler went deep to left making 8-1Winston-Salem.

Keenan Wiley drove in a pair for the Hillcats in the fifth but the couldn't over come the early deficit, falling 8-3.

Ryan Buch (3-4) went five innings, allowed just one run on five hits to earn the win. Moran (1-1) swallowed the loss after giving up five earned runs on eight hits in just an inning and one-third.

The Hillcats are 20-30 in the second half with just 19 games left to play. They are now six games back of the Potomac Nationals for a playoff spot.

The series with Winston-Salem continues Tuesday night at 7:00 pm. RHP Caleb Brewer will make his debut for the Hillcats against LHP Joe Serafin for the Dash.
