(Milwaukee, WI) - The Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) has selected Dan Green as the Goalkeeper of the Week and Troy Dusosky as the Defender of the Week for the seven day period ending January 4th. The two players posted big numbers in the Wave's three games this week, helping to improve Milwaukee's record to a league best 12-3. Both Green and Dusosky are being honored for the first time this season in their respective categories by the league.
Green went 3-0 in the net for the Wave this past week, saving 33 of 42 shots for a .786 save percentage and a 2.95 goals-against-average. In the Wave's 6-2 win over the Monterrey Fury on Wednesday, December 31st, Green saved eight of ten shots. Friday night Green started in goal against Wave legend Victor Nogueira when the San Diego Sockers came to town; stopping ten of fourteen shots in a 6-5 overtime thriller. Sunday the Wave traveled to Monterrey and Green recorded his third victory, turning away 16 of 18 shots in a 6-2 onslaught of the Fury.
The Waukesha native has now started in five consecutive Wave games, posting a 5-0 record in those starts and a 7-1 overall record. He is the MISL's leading goalkeeper with a 3.87 goals-against-average and .776 save percentage.
Dusosky recorded two goals and an assist in the Wave's three games this week. He scored the game-winner in the 6-2 victory over the Fury on Wednesday, December 31st and collected three blocks and an assist against the Sockers on Friday, January 2. He also added a goal in the Wave's 6-2 win in Monterrey on Sunday, January 4th.
The Anoka, Minnesota native made his second All-Star appearance last season in Milwaukee and was named to the All-MISL Second Team following the season. Dusosky needs just six points to eclipse the 250th career point mark this season. Thus far in 2003-04 he has tallied six goals and four assists for 10 points and has also added 17 blocks.
