July 24, 2007 - NBA G League (G League)
Dakota Wizards News Release

Bismarck, ND, July 24, 2007 - The Dakota Wizards will begin defense of their NBA Development League Championship on Friday, November 23 when they host the expansion Iowa Energy at the Bismarck Civic Center at 7:00 p.m. CT.

"122 days to tip-off! With the exciting finish to last season, the season can not get here fast enough," said Wizards General Manager Tom Wagganer. "Now that we have the schedule, we can finalize fun promotions and events for our fans to help them better enjoy the Wizards experience"

The Wizards and Energy will be familiar foes this season, as the two teams will battle the next night on Saturday, November 24 at 7:00 p.m. CT. The Wizards will also host the Energy for their traditional New Years Eve game on Monday, December, 31 at 7:00 p.m. CT.

"With five Friday and six Saturday nights, our fans from all across North Dakota will have better access to high-quality, affordable family entertainment," added Wagganer. "Sunday's were a big hit for our fans last season as well, so with 15 of our 24 home games on weekends, we're really pleased with our schedule."

As with last season, the Dakota Wizards 2007-08 schedule will feature 50 regular season games, 24 of which will take place at the Bismarck Civic Center. The Wizards will also take part in the 2008 D-League Showcase that will be held January 14-17 at Qwest Arena in Boise, Idaho.

Also highlighting the 2007-08 D-League schedule is the D-League All-Star Game, which will be played on February 16, 2008 as part of NBA Jam Session presented by adidas during 2008 NBA All-Star Weekend in New Orleans.

With the expansion to 14 teams, the D-League is realigning into three divisions for the 2007-08 season. The Southwest and West divisions will feature five teams while the Central division will have four, including the Wizards who will play divisional foes 10 times during the regular season while squaring off with non-division opponents twice.

"The realignment and scheduling structure encourages divisional rivalries," D-League President Dan Reed said. "Plus, with this scheduling system, we had the ability to cut down on travel which we believe, in turn, will provide for a better product on the floor."

The Divisions for the 2007-08 season will break down as follows:

Central Southwest West

Dakota Albuquerque Anaheim

Fort Wayne Austin Bakersfield

Iowa Colorado Idaho

Sioux Falls Rio Grande Valley Los Angeles

Tulsa Utah
