Bakersfield Jam To Tip-Off D-League Season November 24

July 24, 2007 - NBA G League (G League)
Bakersfield Jam News Release

Bakersfield, CA July 24, 2007 - The Bakersfield Jam will open their 2007-08 season in the NBA Development League on Saturday, Nov. 24 at 7 p.m. CST when they travel to the Austin Toros at the Austin Convention Center. The Jam will tip off their home schedule on Sunday, Dec. 2 at 4 p.m. PST when they host the Los Angeles D-Fenders. A complete home schedule is provided at the end of this release.

The Jam-Toros contest is the first of 50 regular season games for Bakersfield's NBA Development League franchise, 24 of which will take place at the Rabobank Arena. The Jam will also take part in the 2008 D-League Showcase that will take place from Jan. 14-17 at Qwest Arena in Boise, Idaho.

"We can't wait to start our second season of play in the D-League," says Michael Hirsch, president of the Bakersfield Jam. "We look forward to providing Bakersfield with a unique combination of the highest level of play in minor league sports and an affordable, family entertainment option that is second to none in Kern County."

The Jam's 24 home games include 17 weekend tilts, with five Fridays, seven Saturdays and five Sunday contests. Also highlighting the 2007-08 D-League Schedule is the All-Star Game, which will be played as part of NBA Jam Session presented by Adidas at 2008 NBA All-Star in New Orleans.

Fans can purchase season ticket packages for Jam games at the Rabobank Arena now by calling (661)716-4JAM. Tickets prices start as low as $5 per game and range up to $25 for baseline-to-baseline seats. Season and group tickets receive discounts and special benefits. A limited number of courtside seats, the most unique fan experience in all of sports, are also available. For ticket information call (661) 716-4JAM or log on to www.bakersfieldjam.com.

With the expansion to 14 teams, the D-League is realigning into three divisions for the 2007-08 season. The Southwest and West divisions will feature five teams while the Central division will have four. The Bakersfield Jam will play in the Western division and face divisional foes Los Angeles, Anaheim, Idaho, and Utah eight times during the regular season while squaring off with non-division opponents twice.

"The realignment and scheduling structure encourages divisional rivalries," D-League President Dan Reed said. "Plus, with this scheduling system, we had the ability to cut down on travel which we believe, in turn, will provide for a better product on the floor."

The Divisions for the 2007-08 season will break down as follows:

Central Southwest West

Dakota Albuquerque Anaheim

Fort Wayne Austin Bakersfield

Iowa Colorado Idaho

Sioux Falls Rio Grande Valley Los Angeles

Tulsa Utah
