Indiana Mad Ants News Release
The Dakota Wizards defeated the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, 119-111, in the second game of their back to back series at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum Friday evening.
The Wizards got off to a fast start and led 33-12 after the first quarter. Despite being down by as many as 21 points in the first half, the Mad Ants rebounded with a valiant effort in the second half and were able to close the Wizards lead to one.
In spite of that effort, Dakota remained solid down the stretch, and the Mad Ants could not come up with the big stop. The Wizards were well-balanced on offense with six players in double digits, four of whom scored over 18 points. Rod Benson led the way for the Wizards with 23 points and 12 rebounds, and not far behind were Maurice Baker with 21 points and Carlos Powell with 20 points.
Jeremy Richardson from the Mad Ants continued his solid play from the night before to lead all scorers with 32 points. Walker Russell Jr. also made a big contribution for Fort Wayne by finishing the night with 22 points.
With the sweep the Dakota Wizards advance to 5-3 while the Mad Ants fall to 3-5.
