Dakota Wizards News Release
BISMARCK, ND, December 1, 2009 - The Dakota Wizards announced today that they have acquired Connor Atchley from the available player pool.
Atchley, a 6'10 forward-center, played four games, including one start, for the Golden State Warriors in the 2009 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas in July. After beginning this season in Turkey, he recently decided to return stateside to play in the NBA D-League.
The 24 year-old played four seasons at the University of Texas, including a junior season in which he led the Big 12 conference in blocked shots. Atchley was also a four-time Academic All-Big 12 selection and ranks second all-time in games played for the University of Texas.
"Connor is a long athletic player that will give us depth and versatility off the bench," said Wizards head coach Rory White. "We are happy to be able to pick up a player of his caliber from the pool and look forward to Connor helping us on our first big road trip."
Atchley will meet the team in Boise for the Wizards first road game of the season Wednesday night against the Idaho Stampede. He takes the roster spot of D'Lancy Carter, whom the Wizards have waived.
