D-Man Darcy Campbell Named All-CHL
March 21, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release
The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees in conjunction with the Central Hockey League (CHL) are proud to announce that Killer Bees defensemen Darcy Campbell has been selected as a member of the 2011 All-CHL team. Campbell, one of the Bees leaders on the blue line, has been a consistent threat on both sides of the puck.
Campbell is helping to pace the Bees offensively with 13 goals and 42 assists through 57 games. Campbell leads all defensemen in CHL in points while sitting second in points on the Bees.
"Darcy has proven himself to be one of the top defensemen in the league all season long. The thing that is most impressive is his work ethic each and every day. It is a great honor for him and very well deserved. His poise and leadership has really helped his teammates this season." said Killer Bees head coach Chris Brooks.
Campbell becomes the first Killer Bees player to ever be named to the All-CHL team and Campbell is a finalist for Most Outstanding Defenseman.
Darcy Campbell is in his fourth full season as a professional hockey player after a three year career with the University of Alaska-Fairbanks. Campbell is the only member of the Killer Bees with NHL experience suiting up for the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2006-07 season.
The Bees have three games remaining in the 2010-11 regular season with all three games coming at the State Farm Arena. The Bees begin the final week of play against the Odessa Jackalopes this Tuesday at 7 p.m. Tickets are available by calling 843-PUCK (7825) or visiting killerbeehockey.com
