CHL Announces 2010-2011 All-CHL Team

TEMPE, AZ (March 21, 2011) - The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today the six member All-CHL Team for the 2010-11 season, selected through balloting of all 18 CHL head coaches. Receiving recognition on the team are forwards Riley Nelson of Colorado, Sebastien Thinel of Odessa and Chad Woollard of Texas.&nbs p; They are joined by defensemen Darcy Campbell of Rio Grande Valley and Andrew Martens of Wichita along with goaltender Robby Nolan of Missouri.

Riley Nelson, Forward (Colorado Eagles):

Riley Nelson makes the All-CHL Team for the third straight season and led all forwards during this year's balloting as he appeared on 12 of the 18 submitted ballots. The MVP candidate leads all players with a +41 plus/minus rating (the highest of his career) and is fourth in points with 91 (34-57'). The Cranbrook, British Columbia native was named the Sher-Wood CHL Player of the Month in October after scoring after putting up 12 points (5-7=12) and a +9 plus/minus rating. In the recently completed CHL Best-of-the-Best poll, Nelson was voted the 'Best Player' by his peers.

Sebastien Thinel, Forward (Odessa Jackalopes):

Sebastien Thinel is well on his way to winning his second Joe Burton Award (regular season scoring champion) in the last three years as he paces all players with 105 points (34-71=105). The 2009 CHL Most Valuable Player is a candidate once again this season. The St. Jerome, Quebec native won the Sher-Wood CHL Player of the Month and the Oakley CHL Three Stars Player of the Month for November with 10 goals and 15 assists. In March, Thinel has caught fire with 14 goals and 10 assists in 11 games. Thinel has been the most prolific scorer in the CHL over the past three seasons recording 299 points with a few games still remaining in the 2010-11 season.

Chad Woollard, Forward (Texas Brahmas):

Chad Woollard leads the CHL with 42 goals and has added 42 assists this season as well. His goal total is approaching his career high which was 44 goals scored while a member of the Quad City Mallards (UHL) during the 2005-06 season, although he played 76 games that season and will reach a maximum of 65 games this season. The Durham, Ontario native won the Oakley Three Star Player of the Month for February when he scored 13 goals with 13 assists. Woollard has had six multiple-goal games this season and is tied for third in the league with seven game winning goals. The veteran forward has had the two longest goal scoring streaks in the CHL this season reaching nine straight games and seven straight games finding the back of the net.

Darcy Campbell, Defenseman (Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees):

Darcy Campbell has been the top offensive CHL defenseman all season despite missing several weeks with an injury. After a career in the American Hockey League and in Europe, the Airdrie, Alberta native signed to play in the CHL for the first time and he made an immediate impact for the Killer Bees recording a seven-game point streak in November that saw him score seven goals with six assists. Voted to start in the CHL All-Star Game but unable to play because of injury, Campbell has 13 multiple-point games and leads all defensemen in scoring with 55 points (13-42=55). He is a candidate for the league's Most Outstanding Defenseman Award.

Andrew Martens, Defenseman (Wichita Thunder):

Andrew Martens got off to a slow start offensively for the Thunder scoring just seven points (2-5=7) in his first 16 games but he made up for it in a big way starting with a two-goal game in an 8-3 win over Rapid City on December 1. The Friendswood, Texas native would rattle off 31 points (10-21=31) over the next two months (28 games) and currently ranks third among defensemen with 51 points (14-37=51). In his first season with Wichita, Martens had a four-goal game on December 5 against Fort Wayne. Martens is one of five finalists for the CHL's Most Outstanding Defensemen Award.

Robby Nolan, Goaltender (Missouri Mavericks):

Robby Nolan may be in just his second professional season but he plays as if he has been at for years. In his first CHL season, the Sherwood Park, Alberta native made the CHL All-Star Team, was named the Sher-Wood CHL Goaltender of the Month for December and is not only a finalist for the CHL's Most Outstanding Goaltender but a finalist for the league's Most Valuable Player Award. Nolan is 24-13-5 on the season with a league-leading 2.10 goals against average, a league-best six shutouts and a .927 save percentage (third in the CHL). In his 24 wins, Nolan has allowed just 28 goals, good for a 1.20 goals against average.

The CHL Man of the Year will be announced on Tuesday, March 22 with the finalists being Allen's Liam Huculak, Colorado's Adam Hogg, Dayton's Jeff Jakaitis, Missouri's Simon Watson and Rio Grande Valley's Zak McClellan.
