NBA Access with Ahmad Rashad takes another look at the NBA Development League experience in this week's show, which airs on ABC affiliates across the country on Saturday, Feb. 10 (1 p.m. ET and 3:30 p.m. PT).
The show spends time with Matt Carroll of the Charlotte Bobcats, the 2005 D-League MVP who fought his way out of the NBA's minor league and into the Bobcats starting lineup. Cameras follow Carroll in practice and in the locker room, and also on a drive back to his apartment, where he talks about his long road to the NBA.
The show also catches up with rookie Jose Barea of the Dallas Mavericks, who made the reverse journey to the D-League. Unable to get playing time with one of the best teams in the league, Barea was assigned to the Mavericks' affiliate, the Ft. Worth Flyers. Cameras follow Barea as he meets his team at the MLK Showcase in Sioux Falls, while also following his journey as he lights up the D-League with a pair of 40-plus point games. Barea talks about his experience and how he feels after being recalled by the Mavericks following his eight-game D-League assignment.
Finally, the show gives viewers an all-access pass with Atlanta Hawks' minor league coordinator Harold Ellis. Viewers follow Ellis as he scouts the Arkansas RimRockers, revealing what he looks for in a player deserving of a call-up to the NBA.
