
D.C. United to hold annual Equipment Sale

Washington, D.C. (November 18, 2008) - D.C. United today announced plans for the club's annual Holiday Equipment Sale. Set for Saturday, December 13 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the event will be held at the VW Lounge in RFK Stadium and will feature authentic D.C. United team-issued gear. All proceeds from the sale will benefit United's charitable arm, United for D.C., which advances opportunities for economically, physically and mentally disadvantaged youth of the greater Washington D.C. area.
The sale will include items such as game-worn player jerseys and shorts, practice jerseys, long sleeve tops, sweatshirts, team jackets, training pants, team polos, and match balls. This sale is open to the general public so please plan on arriving early and entering through Gate A of RFK Stadium. Only cash and credit cards will be accepted.
Founded in 2002, United for D.C. serves youth and families with a focus on literacy and healthy lifestyles. Through the Kicks for Kids program, more than 10,000 underprivileged children had the opportunity to watch United play this season alone. United Reads is currently active in six elementary schools in Washington D.C. and has distributed over 12,000 new books throughout 2008. United Soccer Club is an after-school soccer program, which teaches fundamental skills and hosts games and scrimmages in seven sites throughout Washington, D.C.
