D.C. United Defender Bryan Namoff Expected To Miss Three-to-Four Weeks

Washington, D.C. (April 19, 2005) - D.C. United announced today that Bryan Namoff will miss three-to-four weeks of the season, due to an avulsion fracture to a rib, suffered during training on Friday, March 25. The injury occurred while the team was preparing for their season opener with Chivas USA. Namoff has not seen time in any MLS games this season. The injury was recently discovered in a bone-scan taken at Healthsouth Diagnostic Imaging in Falls Church, VA.

"While we are disappointed with the news, we are confident Bryan will soon be back to the form we've become accustomed to in recent years," said United Technical Director Dave Kasper.

In 2005, Namoff started both the home and away legs of United's first round CONCACAF Champions Cup wins against Harbour View Jamaica before suffering the injury. In the past two seasons Namoff started 49 of the 66 MLS matches D.C. United played, including five of six playoff matches. In 2004, Namoff recorded the second-most minutes played on the team (2,384), despite missing three games during the season. While serving as a vital part of the defense, Namoff also provided the occasional offensive support, notching two assists on the year.
