D.C. United announces 'Copa D.C. VIII' details

Washington, D.C. (September 22, 2008) - D.C. United announced today event details for 'Copa D.C. VIII,' the yearly 6v6 indoor tournament hosted by the club and presented by Volkswagen and associate sponsor, The Electrical Alliance. The opening rounds of the tournament will kickoff on Sunday, October 19 at the Rockville SportsPlex, with the quarterfinals, semis and final taking place on Sunday, October 26.

Teams are guaranteed three 40-minute games, 12 tournament t-shirts, 12 gift bags and 12 D.C. United playoff game tickets - all for a $399 entry fee. Teams are limited to a maximum of 12 players per team and there is a 20 team maximum for the tournament. The tournament draw will be held on Thursday, October 9 in the VW Lounge at RFK Stadium.

The champion of 'Copa D.C. VIII' will receive a check for $3,000, a trophy, first place medals for each player on the team and free entry into 2009's 'Copa D.C. IX.' The runner-up will receive a check for $1,500 and second place medals, the third place team a $1,000 check and third place medals, while the fourth place team will receive a $399 check and fourth place medals.
