CHICAGO TAKES ON LOS ANGELES THURSDAY AT TOYOTA PARK
The Chicago Fire (11-9-5, 38 pts.) host the Los Angeles Galaxy Thursday, Sept. 25 at TOYOTA PARK (8 p.m. CT, ESPN2, WRTO 1200-AM Spanish, WNVR 1030-AM Polish). Chicago lost 4-1 to FC Dallas last weekend and is in third place in the Eastern Conference. The Fire are 5-5-2 at home, going 3-2-2 in their last seven home games. The Fire still lead the league in goals against average (0.96) and although their goal differential has dropped to +7 (31-24), Chicago is tied with Houston for second best in the league behind Columbus' +13 (44-31).
CHICAGO-LOS ANGELES SERIES AND PREVIOUS GAME RECAP
Chicago defeated the Galaxy in front of a sellout crowd of 27,000 at The Home Depot Center on Aug. 21 in the teams' first meeting of the season. John Thorrington tallied the game-winning goal in the 65th minute with the assist credited to Brian McBride. The all-time series between these teams is tied at 13-13-3 however; the Fire have a slight advantage in goals, scoring 35 to the Galaxy's 33 all-time. The Fire holds the home field advantage with a record of 8-6-0 in Chicago (2-0-0 at TOYOTA PARK).
INDIVIDUAL TICKETS REMAIN FOR GALAXY GAME
Individual tickets for the Fire's match against Los Angeles are still available. Tickets priced at $35 and $45 in the Terrace level and $60 on the McDonald's Fry Box bleachers can still be purchased. These individual tickets are available only at the TOYOTA PARK box office and at all Ticketmaster outlets including ticketmaster.com.
Lower level seats in the regular seating bowl also remain for the Galaxy game as part of a special Brian McBride Three-game Ticket Pack which also includes a ticket to the Oct. 23 game vs. New York and the first Fire home playoff game. FIRE RESERVES TO PLAY MAKEUP GAME VERSUS NEW YORK RESERVES
The Fire Reserves travel to New York to play a makeup game against New York. The game was originally scheduled for May 26, but had to be postponed to scheduling conflicts. The Fire Reserves tied New York's reserves 3-3 in their previous meeting on Sept. 7 at TOYOTA PARK. Chicago is 4-3-1 in MLS Reserve Division play.
FIRE ARE REACHING THEIR GOALS
With Brian McBride's 91+ minute goal on Sunday against FC Dallas, the Fire has tied their 2007 goal total of 31. The Fire has surpassed their 2007 win total (10), recording their 11th win on Sept. 6 against New York (1-0). Goalkeeper Jon Busch has also tied the Fire's all-time single season shutout record of 10 (Matt Pickens, 2007) and will look to break that record on Thursday against the Los Angeles Galaxy. The Fire will also have an opportunity this week to surpass their 2007 points total (40 pts.). The Fire currently have 38 pts. with five games left in the season.
FIRE, MY50 CHICAGO, AND JEWEL-OSCO TEAM UP DURING HUNGER ACTION MONTH
September is Hunger Action Month and the Fire will join My50 Chicago and Jewel-Osco on Thursday, September 25 at the Jewel-Osco store at Wellington and Ashland (2940 N. Ashland, Chicago) to help promote awareness and collect non-perishable food items for area food banks. Fans are invited to attend the festivities, donate non-perishable food goods, take a shot on goal, and meet Sparky, the Fire's mascot.
FIRE LAUNCH ONLINE VOTING FOR ALL-DECADE BEST GAMES
As part of the Chicago Fire 10th Anniversary Celebration, the Fire has launched a new category in the All-Decade Sweepstakes for the Best Games in Fire history. Fans can choose their top 5 favorite games from throughout the Fire's previous 10 seasons for a chance to win great prizes in the 10th Anniversary Sweepstakes.
