D.C. United News Release
Washington, D.C. (April 26, 2010) - D.C. United's Youth Academy sides built upon their rising momentum by posting 2-1 records over the past week at both the U-16 and U-18 levels. During the previous three weeks the Black-and-Red have accumulated an 11-3 overall record.
Midweek action on Wednesday, April 21 saw the U-16 and U-18 Academy teams travel to Pennsylvania to take on the PA Classics in a division match. The U-16's pulled off a narrow 1-0 victory behind the efforts of Cody Albrecht. Conor Shanosky's lone strike was not enough to lift the U-18's to victory, as the Black-and-Red fell 2-1 to the PA Classics.
On Saturday April 24, United's U-16's downed New York rival FC Westchester 2-0 as Albrecht was on target once more alongside teammate Marcus Salandy-Delafour. The U-18's posted a reverse of their losing margin from Wednesday, recording a 2-1 win over their FC Westchester counterparts. Aslin Rodas and Steven Mashinksi both scored for the Black-and-Red to secure the victory.
On Sunday, April 25, United played two more contests at the Maryland Soccerplex, as the U-18's recorded their second victory of the weekend against Albertson. Mashkinski continued his fine scoring run for the Black-and-Red with Desean Ragland and Myles McGinley both adding to the 3-1 scoreline. The U-16's fell 2-1 to Albertson, with Marcus Salandy-Defour scoring his second goal in as many games.
