Brooklyn Cyclones News Release

Brooklyn, NY - The Cyclones won their fourth straight over the Jersey Shore BlueClaws, this time by the score of 6-1 on Sunday afternoon. Jose Peroza went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored and an RBI to pace the Brooklyn bats. The Cyclones outscored the 'Claws 28-12 over the six-game series.

The Cyclones jumped ahead 1-0 with authority as Brandon McIlwain led off the bottom of the 2nd with a home run over the left-field scoreboard for the first run of the game. Nic Gaddis kept the rally going with a hustle double and would later score courtesy of an RBI single from Jose Mena. Tanner Murphy capped the scoring with a sacrifice fly to give Brooklyn a 3-0 edge after two innings.

In the top of the 3rd, Brooklyn starter Carlos Ocampo walked back-to-back batters to start the frame but looked like he would avoid any damage after inducing a two-out ground ball to shortstop, but Wilmer Reyes booted the potential third out, allowing Johan Rojas to score for the BlueClaws and make the score 3-1.

The teams traded zeroes until the bottom of the sixth when the Cyclones would tack on another run. Peroza and Mena had a pair of one-out singles to start the threat and Warren Saunders took advantage of the scoring chance with a double to chase home a run and extend Brooklyn's lead to 4-1.

In the seventh, Jersey Shore reliever Carlos Francisco struggled with his control, walking the first three batters of the innings to load the bases with nobody out. Nic Gaddis and Jose Peroza each followed with a sacrifice fly to extend Brooklyn's lead to 6-1, which would be the final score.

The Cyclones improved to 6-3 on the season after taking five of six from the Jersey Shore BlueClaws. The team will head to Hudson Valley starting on Tuesday to square off against the New York Yankees affiliate. The 'Clones will return home on Tuesday, April 26th to open up a six-game series with the Bowling Green Hot Rods.
