Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

THIS PAST WEEK:

About Saturday Night in Reading: Yannick Tifu's second period goal proved to be the game winner as the Royals hung on to beat the Cyclones by a 3-2 final score in front of 5,863 at Sovereign Center. Mathieu Aubin and Mattias Lindstrom both scored for Cincinnati in a losing effort.

About Last Night in Trenton: Andy Bombach's goal in round two of the shootout proved to be the game-winner as the Titans defeated the Cincinnati Cyclones by a 2-1 final score in front of 3,254 at Sun Center. With the Cyclones earning a point despite the loss, they officially clinched a Kelly Cup Playoff berth - the earliest a Cincinnati team has ever locked in a spot since returning to ECHL play in 2006.

SHOTS FROM THE POINT:

Headed South: After a weekend trip through the Atlantic Division complete, the Cyclones will now travel south to take on three different opponents over the next seven days. On Wednesday, they'll meet the Gwinnett Gladiators before heading to the Sunshine State for two games against the defending Kelly Cup Champion Florida Everblades followed by a Sunday matinee versus the Orlando Solar Bears.

An Early Clinch: By capturing a point on Friday in Trenton, the Cyclones clinched a Kelly Cup Playoff berth for the second time in three seasons under Head Coach Jarrod Skalde. In fact, it was the earliest a Cyclones team has reserved their space in the postseason since returning to ECHL play in 2006.

North Division Champions!: With the Toledo Walleye falling on Sunday evening, the Cyclones officially clinched their third-ever Division Championship! While the Clones won back-to-back division titles in 2007-08 and 2008-09, this season is the earliest they have ever secured the divison crown.

He's a Giver: While he's been among the team lead for points, rookie David Pacan continues to rack up the assists this season. With a pair of helpers this weekend, he has now notched a point in six straight games and is tied for third among rookies with 51 tallies in 56 games. His assist totals (37) are among the ECHL's top 20.

Playing Positive: Cyclones defenseman Chris Reed has been a beacon of stability on the blue line this season, accumulating a +29 plus/minus rating - the second best among all ECHL players this season. Mathieu Aubin took home the Plus Performer of the Year a season ago with a +25 season rating. Reed is on pace to rank in the Cyclone All-Time Top 5 for a single season plus/minus mark.
