Cyclones Use Three-Run Fourth; Top Claws 3-1

BROOKLYN, NY - Brooklyn scored three runs in the fourth inning and bested the BlueClaws 3-1 on Thursday night at Maimonides Park in the final game of the first half.

DJ Stewart doubled home a run in the first inning to put the BlueClaws up 1-0, but that would be the lone run for the BlueClaws on the night.

Brooklyn got three runs off Dominic Pipkin (1-2) in the fourth to take the lead. Nic Gaddis tied the game with an RBI single. Jose Peroza walked with the bases loaded to put the Cyclones up 2-1 and Shervyn Newton added a SAC fly.

Meanwhile, Mike Vasil (1-1) gave up one run over six innings to earn the win. Justin Courtney threw a scoreless seventh and eighth while Grant Hartwig threw a scoreless ninth to earn his sixth save.

Johan Rojas has two hits for Jersey Shore.

Cristian Hernandez (2.2) and Carlo Reyes (2) combined for 4.2 innings of scoreless relief.

Jersey Shore (25-41) and Brooklyn (30-36) will see their records reset on Friday as the second half kicks off. Mick Abel starts Friday night for the BlueClaws.
