
Cyclones Take Sixth Straight

Burlington, VT - July 28, 2016 -The Cyclones collect their sixth straight win with a 8-5 victory over the Lake Monsters Friday night at Centennial field.
For the second game in a row Brooklyn came out swinging. The team notched two runs in the first inning after Gene Cone, Michael Paez and Colby Woodmansee filled the bases on Pete Alonso and Blake Tiberi RBI sacrifice plays.
Brooklyn's starting pitcher, Merandy Gonzalez, held his own during his 5.0 innings of play despite walking a career high of six batters. The righthanded pitcher gave up one run on in the bottom of the first before throwing four scoreless. He finished the night giving up six hits and striking out four.
Cone opened up the third inning with a leadoff home run, the first of his career, before Paez and Woodmansee knocked back-to-back doubles that furthered the Cyclones lead to 4-2.
LHP Gabriel Feliz entered the sixth inning with 6-1 Cyclones lead. Feliz ran into some trouble after he loaded the bases on a single and two walks. The LakeMonsters closed the lead to 6-4 after Tyler Ramirez knocked a two-run double and Eli White drove in one with a single up the right field line.
The Cyclones bounced back and were able to seal the deal with two runs in the eighth inning. Desmond Lindsay scored first after Zanon reached base on a throwing error that moved him to third before Jay Jabs threw the knockout punch with a RBI sac fly.
RHP Austin McGeorge, LHP Travis Henry and RHP Joesph Zanghi all tossed one inning. They collectively gave up one hit for a run whilst striking out six.
The Cyclones will look to continue their streak and sweep as they close out in Vermont tomorrow night at 6:05 P.M. Brooklyn will return to MCU Park on Sunday to open a three-game series with the Aberdeen IronBirds. Sunday the team will transform to Hogwarts for Harry Potter Night and the first 2,000 fans will receive a Wilmer Flores "Cheers to Tears" unique two-face bobblehead.
