Ernie Harwell Night at KeySpan Park
While many people may find his voice synonymous with Detroit Tigers baseball, Ernie Harwell began his professional broadcasting career in Brooklyn. Today, August 4th, is the 55th anniversary of Harwell's first major league broadcast, a game in which the Dodgers defeated the Cubs 5-4. The Brooklyn Cyclones will be honoring the Hall of Fame announcer with a special pre-game ceremony. In addition to the ceremony in which Mr. Harwell will be throwing out the first pitch, he will also broadcast an inning of baseball with Warner Fusselle on WKRB radio as well as inning in the broadcast booth for FOX Sports Net.
