
Cyclones drop 5-2 verdict at Trenton

TRENTON, New Jersey - A three -goal outburst from Trenton was too much for the Cincinnati Cyclones, as the Titans went on to claim a 5-2 win at Sovereign Bank Arena Sunday afternoon.
The Cyclones opened the scoring in the opening period at 11:49, when Greg Stewart netted his eighth goal of the season from the high slot. Taking a feed from Cincinnati native Jason Deitsch, Stewart one-timed the pass from the left corner and buried it inside the left post. Shots on goal favored Cincinnati in the first period, 13-7.
Trenton struck three times in the frame, as Jake Ortmeyer and Benoit Mondou (two scores) did the damage. The Cyclones lone goal of the frame came from Mike Wirll¸his league-leading 44th goal of the season, from Travis Lisabeth, at 8:04, closed the gap to 3-2 after two periods. Trenton outshot the Cyclones, 16-7, in the period.
A pair of third period goals by Scott Bertoli closed out the scoring for Trenton and made the final score, 5-2.
The Cyclones are now 35-25-3-2, in second place in the North Division standings, one point behind Dayton. Trenton is 32-29-1-4 on the season, fourth-best in the North Division. The Cyclones take on Johnstown in the âEducation In Hockey Day' on Tuesday (March 27) at 10:30am.
